First, just to set your minds at ease, I'm not asking whether or not I should edit my registry. At this point I'm just trying to find out if there could possibly be any registry conflicts when I reinstall Sun Java per this thread, which details problems I've been having.

Short version: Java has been acting peculiarly, depending on which user account I have open. Because of those problems, I'm concerned that I might create additional issues when I reinstall Java, after having performed an uninstall. Would it help if I have all my user accounts logged on when I reinstall, or might that make things worse?

Sure would appreciate it if anyone has some thoughts on this.

To answer my own question ... I decided to reinstall with all my user accounts logged on, and there don't seem to be any bad aftereffects at this point.
