Hi zombie superman.

Your computer has been infected with several malware, including a dangerous SDBot Trojan.
This can give intruders complete control of your computer, logging key strokes, stealing information.

You are strongly advised to do the following immediately
  • Disconnect infected computer from any networked computers until the computer can be cleaned.
  • If you have been doing online banking, Call all of your banks, credit card companies, financial institutions and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change *all* of your online passwords -- for ISP login, email, banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, and any online forums or groups you belong to.Do NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new passwords and transaction information.
Because of its backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure it can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your OS and would like me to attempt to clean your machine, I will be happy to do so.

To help you make a more informed decision, please read the following articles:Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask

Please let me know your decision and we'll get started with clean up if that's what you choose.

Hey DFW,

Wow. Just read your reply.

That's a lot to consider. Let me talk to my wife and I'll post back here.

Thank you so much, Chris

Hey DFW,

We've decided to go the full system restore route, both for my wife's computer and my laptop, which has also been acting up in the last few months.

We have the system restore discs for both computers, but we need some recommendations for USB drives to store the data we don't want to lose. We've been putting off buying some and now's a good time, since we need to store a lot of info before the wipes.

Can you recommend some affordable drives with lots of storage?

Thanks, Chris

Hi zombie superman.

OK I understand, as you have said your going to need to back up your data, also think about email account, email messages and contacts (address book),
If you was thinking of buying some back up media anyway, I would go for a external hard drive, it's a little more to pay out at first, but it is all you ever need,
just make sure the size you buy is going to fit your needs, have a shop round in the stores and online, you can pick some great deals on them, the prices have crashed,
wish I waited now

when you have backed all your data up, give it a scan with avast to make sure you are not going to copy infected files or malware back onto you nice clean system.

If you need more help please post back.
