I have some old componets and want to build an older rig to play the dozens of old games I have. My 2 old boards/processors are....ECS socket 775 board with a P4 2.66 gig, 533 bus. The other is an MSI board with a socket 754 AMD 3200 2.2 gig. The memory I have is 2 gigs of 3200 Kingston. The video card is a 7600 GS and I have an older 8X DVD burner. I am going to get XP to run it. The question is which one, the Intel board or the AMD??

A lot rests on what type of chipset the boards have. If the ECS has Intel chipsets, I would go for it. Just my own preference.

Try googling and see if there are any reviews for either of the boards.

ECS boards have allot of problems you may run into problems with it. I personally would avoid them like the plague.

The ECS board is ....P4M800PRO-M (V2.0)

The MSI board is ....K8N NEO PLATINUM

I dunno much about Chipsets and stuff, so what do you guys think?

The MSI boards seems better but the AMD processor runs a 2.2 Gigs and the P4 runs at 2.66.........

I don't think it'll matter much for either one that you choose. I've found for some reason that intel seems to just like me more, and they work better for me, especially older processors.

Its pretty much down to personal preference here, I think.
