Good Afternoon,

I am infected with Virtumonde for the lastweek and dont know how it got on here, as i am quite security concious

I have installed and up to date on pc

Webroot Spysweeper
Eset NOD32

I have used these methods also to try kill virtumonde

Windows Defender
Registry Mechanic - PCTOOLS
Lavasoft Adawre Se - Free Edition
Manual Registry Edit
Fixmonde.exe
VundoFix.exe

I am using Mozilla FF and this is ok, I have even uninstalled MS IE from the add/remove progs and im stil being popped up with crap.
When quaratining Virtumonde with Spysweeer ( only one that picks it up ) i go get NOD32 prompts thats its trying to install itself again but still get pop ups

I give up and have run the HIJACKTHIS application and would like some help.

Hello virtu-pissed-monde-off user,

Welcome to Bleeping Computer

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please, along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Thanks,
tea

Good Morning,

I used this combofix fully according to all instructions and went through all stages and then was goign to reboot.

I then got the message "please allow combofix to reboot your machine"

Dont know why it didnt, there was nothing stopping it from rebooting, left it alone for 15 mins in case it was doign something and then decided to manually reboot.

This is wher the BIG problem came in the machine was stuck on a rolling looping reboot with a blue screen error thatsaid blah b;ah checksum dump error.

booting from the XP CD and reparing did not make any difference - so i had no choice but to reinstall windows and start from scratch

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear it. Sounds like you had the latest and nastiest form of Vundo. This stuff is just downright wicked.

I appreciate that you let me know though. A lot of people don't show that courtesy, and I thank you.

tea
