Does anyone have a logical explanation for the things in your PC's programs that you cannot copy although you can highlite them.

For example; The services running in msconfig !

Hello,

Are you refering to copying the entries of a list? If thats so, you cant its because the text entries are not editable the only editable thing on the list ie, msconfig services is a check box that can be altered.
It is down to the way the programmers built it.
Regards,

Alan.

Try highliting them and pressing Ctrl + C - then paste the results into Notepad. Doesn't work all the time, but it does work sometimes.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Yeah, That's so darn nice of MS Windows, It would be so Darn nice if you could do that out of your systems information etc. drivers, files from search, services etc., it's like the BSOD, it would be so darn nice if you could copy it somewhere !

John, Pretty tricky ! But, ahh ,... ?? I'll try it sometime.

I have to admit it, I am letting the PC Biz get the best of me when I start to loose my RAM, and ask question like this one , I have found out that I actually can copy Systems informations, its just keyed a little different, It just goes to show you that you can become an unthinkable worn smooth and be about as sharp as a marble, one bad OS install + to much coffee + to much computer glare = mental fatigue!

Hello Jove,

There are several contexts/situations where Windows does not provide the ability to select/copy/paste items/lines (e.g., lines in a scrolling list in a dialog box). However, SnagIt does provide this very useful and powerful feature. Examples:

MSCONFIG, Services:

Folder Options, View:

Internet Explorer 7, Internet Options, Advanced:

Internet Explorer 7, Internet Options, Security (Internet), Custom Level...:

Control Panel, System, Advanced, (Performance) Settings, Visual Effects:

Just recently, for a limited time, you could have downloaded an older version of SnagIt (the very version I used to make the screen captures above) for free. Unfortunately, that free offer is no longer available. See:

The captures above are done in image mode, but you can perform similar SnagIt captures in text mode.

Thanks for the info M.. I am without anti-virus at the time, and waiting for some uninstall instructions from a manf. so I can't do much surfing.

But yeah, I was thinking it would be good if there were easy ways to, as your vendors say,"snag" this and that when working on the computer, for later reference and to save the eyes when having to type stuff that aren't words.

That can be a pain. I am sure that this info will refresh the subject for readers on board.

Lil' Later !
