Hi everyone,

I recently uninstalled my CA Internet Security Suite 2007 Edition and then my log-in time was instant, it loading in a flash. Then I installed my new security programs: AVG Free Edition, Comodo Firewall Pro. I had already had the latest versions of Spybot and Ad-aware aswell. When I had CA installed the little blue bar on the boot screen went across about 7 times but log-in time would take about 45+ seconds. Now, it is like the situation has reversed. It seems with the new security programs, the boot-up time is longer, on the boot-up screen the bar goes across 15 times! Does anyone know why this happened?

Well...individual program variation...and the fact that any AV/firewall product will conduct a minimal scan of the system as it sets up (IMO)...should account for differences, as I see it.

IMO, comparing a system with neither firewall nor AV installed...to a system that has both...is an invalid comparison. Defenses take time to set up and become operative while the lack of defenses...results in a faster boot, on any system.

Well I could analyze it myself lol. Nah, not trained enough but I might scan and then see if I can see anything malicuous in it from what I have learnt so far, and then I might check to see if it is ok.
