Hi all,

I am trying to uninstall WINZIP 11.1 (through the Add or Remove Programs window), but I keep getting Error 1402. Could not open key: HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\WinZip\Defaultlcon. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel. When I click OK, I get Fatal error during installation.

I am using Windows XP and running Norton 360. Any help?

Thank you,
Gos-C

First, go to Start>All Programs and locate WinZip. Hoover you mouse cursor over it and you should have the option to uninstall it there.
Also try doing a search for the Winzip file and open it up and see if there's an uninstall folder and run it there

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply. I did not find Winzip on the All Programs or through the Search.

If it's still listed in Add/Remove, try downloading it again then remove it the way I suggested. When done with that also use Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

I am also unable to reinstall it - same message, and I have Office 2007 so I am not to use Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.

Any other suggestion?

Thank you,
Gos-C

You can use it. Just don't use it for Office apps. You can select what applications you want to clean up
