I have completed everything in the preparation guide and have my hijackthis log below. I am getting messages that I have possible spyware and need to 'click here' to remove. It will not go away. Spybot finds it as smitfraud but is unable to permanetly remove it. If you could take a look and see what I need to do I would greatly appreciate it. I am not that computer savy so any help would be great. Also, if you see anything else please let me know.

Hi, and Welcome to Bleeping Computer

My name is jpshortstuff. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
As I am still training here, my posts to you will be checked by an Expert member. This will ensure that all advice and instructions I give you are accurate and safe. This may mean that my replies may take a little longer.

Sorry about the delay in responding

If you still need help:

Show all hidden files:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View Tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Scan again with HijackThis, and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Then I will analyze your log and sort out a fix for you

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thank you for the responce and I apologize for setting it up on two forums.
I keep getting a yellow bar across the top of the screen when on the internet. It says "Warning: Possible spyware or adaware infection! Click Here to scan your computer for spyware or adaware..."
It shows up on most of the pages I vist but not all or them.
I did the steps you said to take and here is my new HJT log.

Hi

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri), saving to your desktop.

Next, we need to boot into Safe Mode.
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
  • Press Enter.
Once in Safe Mode, double-click the SmitfraudFix.exe icon on your desktop.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your reply.
Thanks,

Oops. Sorry about that. The yellow bar seems to have gone away but it did remove my desktop background. It runs a little slow when I first get online but once the homepage (MSN) comes up it runs as it should. Not sure if that is anything or not. Here are the other scans.

Hi

Sorry about the delays.

Open HijackThis. Hit Do A System Scan Only. Place a check next to the following items (if present):
O2 - BHO: BDEX System - {5085333B-FD15-4754-A571-852F7077C5F2} - C:\WINDOWS\dxpvqlmqng.dll
O3 - Toolbar: The ensfolr - {A037112F-183D-4E98-8CEA-1A0D93BA9F48} - C:\WINDOWS\ensfolr.dll (file missing)
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.trymedia.com (HKLM)
O21 - SSODL: bklgvsf - {D4DEEC23-772A-47B1-81DB-CA02B5ADC0D7} - C:\WINDOWS\bklgvsf.dll (file missing)

Close all browsers and windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

You appear to be running both Symantec and ZoneAlarm Firewalls. Running more than one firewall can cause conflicts in your system, and also slow your computer down greatly. I therefore recommend you uninstall one of these programs. Since Symantec/Norton is also your Anti-Virus, perhaps you should consider getting rid of ZoneAlarm.

Please run this online scan:

Panda ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site, click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the Panda scan report, along with a new HijackThis Log

Thanks,

jpshortstuff

Hi

Open HijackThis. Hit Do A System Scan Only. Place a check next to the following items (if present):
O16 - DPF: {A7EA8AD2-287F-11D3-B120-006008C39542} (CBSTIEPrint Class) - http://offers.e-centives.com/cif/download/bin/actxcab.cab
O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} (PopCapLoader Object) - http://download.games.yahoo.com/games/web_...aploader_v6.cab

Close all browsers and windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Download OTMoveIt by OldTimer to your Desktop.
  • Double click OTMoveIt.exe to launch it.
  • Copy/Paste the contents of the box below into the left hand pane of OTMoveIt.

C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Wildtangent\Cdacache\00\00\50.dat
C:\Program Files\Online Services\PeoplePC\ISP5900\Dll\RAS.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\dxpvqlmqng.dll
C:\WINDOWS\ensfolr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\bklgvsf.dll

  • Click the Move It button.
  • The list will be processed and the results will appear in the right hand pane.
  • If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
  • When finished click Exit to exit the programme.
  • A log C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log will be created (where mmddyyyy_hhmmss are numbers giving date and time the log was created).
  • Post the log back here please.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
  • Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
  • Post that log back here.
Please reboot your computer, and then post a new HijackThis log. How is the computer running now?

I fixed the two items in the hijack this log.

I tried to do the next step
"Download OTMoveIt by OldTimer to your Desktop."
but the link is not valid. Is there another one or can I do a search online to find one? I didnt do the rest of the steps b/c I wanted to check with you first.

Hi

It would appear that OTMoveIt has been replaced by a newer version very recently, sorry about this.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Wildtangent\Cdacache\00\00\50.dat
    C:\Program Files\Online Services\PeoplePC\ISP5900\Dll\RAS.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\dxpvqlmqng.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\ensfolr.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\bklgvsf.dll
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste Standard List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Then continue with the remaining steps in my previous post.

Thanks.

Hi

Things are looking better, just one more scan to run before I can safely send you on your way.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Follow this link in Internet Explorer (Note: You must use Internet explorer to use Kaspersky): Kaspersky WebScanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky,
Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)

    o Scan Options:
    Scan Archives Scan Mail Bases

  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:
    Select My Computer
  • The program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
o Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Please post the results of the Kaspersky scan in your next reply, along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Please also describe what (if any) problems your computer is currently demonstrating.

Thanks,
