I doubt if you will be able to share a printer between two different versions of Windows as they use different drivers.
I have never been able to succesfully do that.
In the beginning there was the command line.

In theory, vista will be able to print to the XP printer, but you may need to install the drivers for it on the vista machine.
Try this advice. It's written for XP, but the steps should be more or less the same on Vista.

You can share a printer on an XP system with a Vista system. There's usually 2 options available - one to use the drivers on Vista and another to use the drivers on the XP system (I haven't done this in a while, but it has to do (I think) with where the print job is spooled).

The Vista option is best for most folks as it doesn't clog up the XP system with the Vista print jobs that are waiting to print. The critical thing here is to enable the sharing on both systems.
