Many months ago we put in place a wireless-G 2.4 Linksys router for a second computer. Well, we now have a third computer in another room and was wondering if I have to buy an entirely different router to enable networking on this third computer or is there an adapter that I can throw on that one. The real question is do I have to spend $300 to make all computers happy? Thank you for any help you can give me. You know if I have any computer issues this is the place to come. You guys are the best!!

To just be able to get wireless access on a computer you need a wireless internet adapter. Wireless routers are only for sending out internet signals to other computers. You don't even need to have a computer hooked up to a router. It just needs to be hooked up to your (cable/DSL) connection and then any computer with a wirless adapter can connect.

You only need the router to be coonect to the internet modem, and not necesarly to any computer, unless ur setting it up.Now u can connect to the other computer by Ethernet cable or wirelessly. In ur desktop PCs and ur laptop there should be an Ethernet port, as for wireless now most Laptops are Wi-Fi enabled, if u want to connect wirelessly on a desktop than u can buy a wirless adapter, PCI or USB and they are cheap about 30 $ i guess , depending in wish country u live and the brand.
