Hi
I am having several naging problems like slow computer, not being able to connect to the internet, dropped internet connections. In general we are not happy with the way this thing is operating. I am on dial-up due to being out in the sticks and have discussed this with my ISP with no real answers. I have a Dell Intel P4 2.80GHz 512 MB of Ram, XP Pro sevice pack 2. I have been using Adaware & Spybot on a regular schedule but for some reason I can't do an online scan with Panda, Housecall or Bit defender. I have also tried to download McAfee stinger with no luck, it always stops saying my internet connection has been reset. I have included the latest Hijack this log. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, 99

I apologize for the very long delay. We have a huge backlog of HijackThis Logs to handle and it has been taking us greater time than normal to get caught up. If you are still having a problem, and want us to analyze your information, please post a brand new hijackthis log. If we do not hear back from you within a couple of days we will need to close your topic.

When posting your logs please post them directly into the reply. Do not attach them.

Also make sure you have already followed the steps outlined below:

Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log

Thank you for your patience.

Thanks for the reply Grinler. No problem with the delay we are not using the computer much - been away and busy. For some reason I am not able to to do the online scans. The last Panda scan was 11 23 07 worked fine then and fairly quick but now I sit and wait 30 - 40 minutes and the active controls have not completed to go on with the scan. Thanks again for taking the time to look at my Hi-jack This file.

Looks clean so far.

Let's dig deeper:
  • Download Combofix to your desktop.

  • Doubleclick combofix.exe

  • Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished, and after reboot if it asks for one, combofix will open again to gather the necessary information for the log. This may take a while so please be patient. When done, Combofix will close and a log should open called combofix.txt.

Post the contents of this log in your next reply along with a new hijackthislog.

Please do not post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask you to.

Your logs look completely clean. Did this start happening after installing something?

I can't remember trying to install anything lately but my daughters may have tried downloading something. What does the statement at top of the ComboFix log mean "WARNING -THIS MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE THE RECOVERY CONSOLE INSTALLED !!"? I have a problem with my CD/DVD drive (E) not working but the CD (D) is working. That is a problem for another forum. I just installed high speed DSL man what a difference. I will try the Panda scan again. Thanks for checking the logs.

I would suggest you ask qustions about the cdroms in the internal hardware forum. The recovery message can be ignored

Glad to hear you like the broadband. It really does make a world of difference.
