So I went through the whole process of cleaning out temporary internet files, etc, ran Ad-Aware and Spybot, ran Housecall by Trend Micro as well as Bit Defender and Panda...ran McAfee Stinger too...I still believe I have some virus/malware on my computer since the file noted in the title keeps appearing with updated websites listed.

It also changes your desktop background to say "Your Privacy Is In Danger! Download Privacy Protection Software Now" and opens up about 10 different websites over the course of the night prompting to download spyware removal programs.
The desktop has became one large link and clicking on it opens up a browser window to another site saying to download spyware. See attached image of one of the sites that it loads.

I also get the following pop-up (along the top below the address bar) sometimes while in IE (Ver. 7.0) "Warning: possible spyware or adware infection! Click here to scan your computer for spyware and adware..."

Below is my HiJack This log:

Hi,

* Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

* Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Windows Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times.
Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Hi,

* Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab
Select "Privacy Protection" you find in there and press the delete button on the right.
Hit ok below > apply in previous window.

Then, * Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

It looks good. I don't notice anything that would seem out of the ordinary.
Thank you!

Also Firefox doesn't seem to want to keep it's settings. When I open it up, it opens up two tabs - one going to http://www.weblog.com/Mozilla
and the other going to:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.exe

That is minor though...
However the Outlook issue...

Hi,

I don't see this as a malware related issue though..

Please use the "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook" in google -- and you'll see a lot of solutions present there.

For Firefox, reboot and try again

Hi,

I already know what is causing this - The uninstall of Combofix caused this.
To fix it, Go to start > run and type: cmd

In the command Window, type:

ftype exefile="%1" %*

Hit enter

Make sure there's a space there, so "%1"<space>%*

Let me know if that solved your issue.
