Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum dgb1014
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

Click Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs and remove MyWebSearch, then restart your pc.

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad".
This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article:
http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

You are well advised to remove the program now.
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present, then restart your pc:
Viewpoint
Viewpoint Manager
Viewpoint Media Player

Your version of Sun Java is out of date.
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older versions of Sun Java, and then update.
1. Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
2. Scroll down to where it says 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 3'.
3. Click the "Download" button to the right.
4. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
5. The page will refresh.
6. Click on the link to download 'Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language' and save to your desktop.
7. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
8. Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
9. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
10. Click the Change/Remove button.
11. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
12. Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
13. Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

If you have previously downloaded ComboFix,please delete that version now.
Warning
You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an expert, not for private use.
Using this tool incorrectly could render your system/pc inoperable.

Now download Combofix by sUBs and save to your desktop:
Note
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.
Note
In case your Antivirus or any other realtime scanner is displaying an alert after you downloaded Combofix or while you use Combofix, please disable your scanner and redownload Combofix again.
Some scanners may see some combofix related components as suspicious and block or delete them while there's nothing wrong with them.

Download RenV.exe to your desktop, double click to run it:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Beta/RenV.exe
When its finished it will produce a Log.
Please post the contents of that Log into your next reply.

Now go to:
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe
Right click on Hijackthis.exe and select 'Rename', rename it to abc.bat
Double click on abc.bat(which is still Hijackthis.exe),post that log into your next reply please.

My computer seems to be running fine at this point.

Once we are finished with this, could you also recommend free virus protection, adware and spyware included also I was using ZoneLabs firewall, but the virus uninstalled it. Is it okay to use?

Thanks
Gail

I have completed all steps and the computer is running great. The only problem is that it will not allow me to download anything. I am trying to download a Firewall, AOL instant messenger and AVG. I previously had these installed but the virus uninstalled them. I went into Add/Remove programs and made sure they were not there. When I try to download them it returns in just a second and says thank you!. but it doesn't download them. Can you help with this?

I had already uninstalled Zone Alarm before I tried to download any of the above. Each one of them had parts of them missing, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it wouldn't download.

Thanks

I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this. I am sending the information requested.

I downloaded MOVEIT and ran it as requested. I am sending the reports as follows:

[Custom Input]
< C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZONELABS >
File/Folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZONELABS not found.

OTMoveIt2 v1.0.7 log created on 01172008_080527

After I restarted and my computer after creating the Fix.bat file and typed CMD in the command bar this is the information I received it.

It does not give me the command prompt to copy and paste the rest of the infomation.

Download/unzip/install Dial-a-Fix from here:
http://djlizard.net/software/Dial-a-fix-v0.60.0.24.zip
Launch the program, place a check in the 'MSI' box 'Fix Windows Installer'.
Then click on 'GO' at the bottom.
Restart your pc when Dial-a-Fix has done.
Whats happening now please.

I installed the Dial A Fix and completed the task, restarted the computer and tried to install AVG and Zone Lab. I continue to get the same error message.
