I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop running Windows XP Professional and I have McAfee Security Center that receives consistent updates. I am experiencing frequent pop-ups from rond.starsdoor.com (about every 5 minutes) with varying content from adult advertisements to prompts telling me to download software to speed up my computer. I am also occasionally taken to a search engine (the name of which I can't remember and haven't seen recently because, of course, it doesn't happen when I want it to) when I click on links from other sites, especially Google. My laptop has also been running noticeably slower. I am fairly certain these problems are all related, but I could very well be wrong. I have gleaned from searching the net about these issues that they more than likely stem from visiting adult websites and I have seen various fixes posted on other forums that involve downloading several anti-virus/anti-spyware programs such as HijackThis and several others and posting the results of the scans. I wanted to get a specific opinion on my problem because I don't know if it will require a different solution due to my computer being a laptop as opposed to a PC. I have never used HijackThis or any related programs, so I don't know much about how they work or what they do, but I would be willing to learn and download whatever it takes to rid myself of this virus. If anyone has any suggestions or solutions I would be extremely appreciative. Thank you very much in advance.

Please follow the steps below so we can see what is infesting your computer:

Download HijackThis™ here:

Click 'Do a System Scan and Save log'. The HJT log will open in notepad. Don't try to fix anything yourself.

Copy and paste the contents of the HJT log into a NEW TOPIC in "HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal"

Also include a link to this topic. Please be patient as our HJT team members work on serveral forums.

Also you can read the Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log
