1394 Connection Missing

I have the 1394 network adapter installed on my computer already, but it doesn't show up in the network connection folder. I have tried reinstalling but it didn't help .Does anyone know what is the problem

im running a window XP Home Edition SP2

The 1394 Network Adaptor is your system's Firewire port. Are you wanting to set up a Firewire network, or are you wanting to use Ethernet?

Im wanting to set up a firewire network. The 1394 network Adaptor doesn't show up in the network connection folder, but i saw it there before now it magically vanished

In Device Manager, do the 1394 Bus host controller and the 1394 Net Adaptor in the Network Adaptors section both appear and indicate normal operation?

Yup, all of them indicates normal operation
