my girlfriend burn a cd with pictures on computer which is infected. then she put the cd in my laptop and since then my computer started to work very slow, frezzing up the internet and giving me all kind of randon pop-ups, i've now run ad-aware, spybot search & destroy, avg, and mac-fee stinger.
my laptop is now working better, except for when i put my password to log into the laptop, it takes about a minute before it even shows the desktop, and after it shows the desktop, it still takes about another minute before the computer is fully funcional. and the internet is still giving me some random pop-ups, and if i dont click the Shift key whenever i click on link, the internet frezzes and i end up having to bring up task manager, to End Task.

thank you very much for your help

Hello nefdog

Thank you for doing that for me, may I ask is your XP user account an admin account? ... you must be an admin to install / repair AVG..

Copy and Paste this 'Fix' into either Notepad or Wordpad for future reference as you will be required to closed down you browser when following these steps.

1. Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

Under Main choose: Select All Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

2. Please now use Internet Explorer and run this online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

Extended (if available otherwise Standard)

Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan: Select My Computer

This will program will start and scan your system.
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button:
Save the file to your desktop.

Copy and paste that information in your next post along with a new HijackThis log.

Thank you

Hello nefdog

Ok, let's try a different tactic shall we, if possible please split the online results into smaller sections when you come to post, if you still have problems we can come back to that later

Next I need information about Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS is this able to scan with the very latest updates, I ask because having two anti-virus products on a system is not really recommended.

And Can you also do this for me now I would like you to navigate to this path: C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe
now Right-click on HijackThis.exe and select "Rename"

I would like you to Rename HijackThis to nefdog then Re-scan and post the new log along with any information in your next post.

Thank you.
