I've decided to wait until the fine folks here can help me with the log that I posted last night. I was told not to make any more changes to my computer while I wait for someone to help me with my spyware issue. I believe that all the anti spyware downloads that I did yesterday have caused my Norton internet security 2007 to have a persistent error. I cannot stay on my computer for very long before the error appears, thus shutting down my virus protection. I have firewall and, ahem, spyware protection (don't think so after my experience!! but it does say that it's "on") just no virus protection. can I get infected by simply reading the web?? I'd like to follow the Iowa caucus today but I guess I won't if I am making myself vulnerable.....and I'm writing this from the "bad" computer. so far, nothing's happened.

thanks for any help!

Only navigate (immediately) to trusted sites (e.g. Google news or your local/favourite newspaper site). Be sure your firewall is turned on.
Cheers,
John
