Can anyone tell me how to get my Services corrected in Windows XP Home SP2 ? The main problem is I cannot get my HELP[and SUPPORT Services to start.I keep getting Error 1083.O.K. Also I have other problems :Application management will not start. It gives error 2.Both of these I repaired somehow yesterday. But even then when I tried to open up HELP AND SUPPORT for I.E. 7.0 nothing happened.I do remember getting a fix of some kind from a place called kelleys corner. Finally Windows Foundation will not work it gives "Error 31 a device attached to the system is not functioning properly. So I have a mess and have tried everything I can think of.Also when I put msconfig in the run bar and hit o.k. it says the file cannot be found. If there is anybody willing to help me,give me any useful links, etc.I would MOST greatly appreciate it.Thanks,Diehard

There are many different reasons for the problems that you describe. The first thing to do is to perform a couple of free, online scans to ensure that you are free of malware (scans with stuff on the system already may be compromised).

I'd suggest these 2:

Should you find that an infection is causing this, I'd suggest visiting this forum: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/

If both scans come up clean, post back here and we'll work with you to fix it.

FWIW - fixing an infected system is an exercise in futility (the malware fights the fixes), so the scans are an important part of the fix.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts. (23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.
