Hi, I'd appreciate it if someone could advise me about the following problems I have been having with my PC. It started with the PC shutting down and from then starting up became a problem as disk check needed to take place as Windows didn't shut dowm correctly. This has been fixed but other problems became apparent; Popups about "Windows Alerts" Control Panel missing, Browser default changing, Loss of authority on my PC, unbable to copy files, couldn't logon to various websites i.e. Norton, Kaspersky etc.

I managed to download Windows defender then Kaspersky which found Malware and Viruses. Currently, I still cannot access (see) the Control Panel, no authority access various programmes "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" . When I access the Internet Kaspersky advises me it has detected Hidden data sending or attempted to perform suspicious actions. If I ignore this then I can access the Internet but if I try to move to another page the browser switches off. A similar switching off occurs on a PC help file if I list the topic then try to go to that topic the programme closes.

As the Browser keeps turning off I am using another PC to write this.

Please see Hijackthis log below.

Appreciate any help or advice and a Happy New Year to all.

You have Norton AntiVirus and Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 installed.
Its definitely not a good idea to have more than one antivirus program installed on your computer.
Each program may interpret the actions of the other as viral, therefore giving you false virus warnings about virus-related activities.
It could also lead to system slowdowns and other problems within the operating system, due to the two conflicting with each other.
You should uninstall one of them now, then restart your pc.

If you decide to uninstall Symantec/Norton,if there is no uninstaller available in Add\Remove Programs then you will need to download and run the Norton Removal Tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...005033108162039
*Please Note*
The Norton Removal Tool will remove all Norton/Symantec products from your pc.

Your version of Sun Java is out of date.
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older versions of Sun Java, and then update.
1. Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
2. Scroll down to where it says 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 3'.
3. Click the "Download" button to the right.
4. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
5. The page will refresh.
6. Click on the link to download 'Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language' and save to your desktop.
7. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
8. Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
9. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
10. Click the Change/Remove button.
11. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
12. Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
13. Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

If you have previously downloaded ComboFix,please delete that version now.
Warning
You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an expert, not for private use.
Using this tool incorrectly could render your system/pc inoperable.

Now download Combofix by sUBs and save to your desktop:
Note
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.
Note
In case your Antivirus or any other realtime scanner is displaying an alert after you downloaded Combofix or while you use Combofix, please disable your scanner and redownload Combofix again.
Some scanners may see some combofix related components as suspicious and block or delete them while there's nothing wrong with them.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

Hi Richie,
Thanks for the response.

1) I shall try to remove one of the antivirus programmes. Although the malware has stopped me from removing programmes. The malware is stopping me from doing various tasks with a popup "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator"

2) I cannot see the control panel so cannot update Java. I also cannot add remove programmes. The malware is stopping me from doing various tasks with a popup "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator"

3) I shall try and dowload combofix and post results

If you're not able to run Combofix, run the following instead:
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
* Close all other windows before proceeding.
* Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
* When it has finished, DSS will open two Notepads: main.txt and extra.txt
* Use Save As to save both Notepad files to your Desktop and post them in your next reply.

Hi Richie,
Thanks for the response. After a few attempts I managed to eventaully download DSS but unfortunately pressed run rather than save. However I then save to the desktop as requested but ther was no Extra file produced. I have attached the following:-
1) First Main and Extra txt files when DSS was run rather than saved to the desktop. Named main.txt and extra.txt
2) Main txt file after DSS was saved to the desktop. Named DSS 3main.txt
3) Latest Hijackthis Log. Named 11 01 08 v1.log

Hope this is clear and sorry if there is any confusion.

Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune:
http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1
Do not run it just yet.

Download\install 'SuperAntiSpyware Home Edition Free Version' from here:
http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfi...ANTISPYWAREFREE

Launch SuperAntiSpyware and click on 'Check for updates'.
Once the updates have been installed, exit SuperAntiSpyware.
Do not run it just yet.

You might want to print/copy the following as you need to be in Safe Mode from here on.

Reboot your computer into SAFE MODE using the F8 method.
To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly.
A menu will appear with several options.
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting 'Fix checked'.
Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

Exit Hijackthis.

Now double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click 'Select All' found at the bottom of the list.
Click the 'Empty Selected' button.

If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
Click Firefox at the top and choose 'Select All' from the list.
Click the 'Empty Selected' button.
NOTE:
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click 'No' at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser,do this also:
Click Opera at the top and choose 'Select All' from the list.
Click the 'Empty Selected' button.
NOTE:
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click 'No' at the prompt.
Click 'Exit' on the Main menu to close the program.

Now Start SuperAntiSpyware.
On the main screen click on 'Scan your computer'.
Check: 'Perform Complete Scan'.
Click 'Next' to start the scan.

Superantispyware will now scan your computer, when it's finished it will list all/any infections found.
Make sure everything found has a checkmark next to it,then press 'Next'.
Click on 'Finish' when you've done.

It's possible that the program will ask you to reboot in order to delete some files.

Obtain the SuperAntiSpyware log as follows:
Click on 'Preferences'.
Click on the 'Statistics/Logs' tab.
Under 'Scanner Logs' double click on 'SuperAntiSpyware Scan Log'.
It will then open in your default text editor, such as Notepad.
Copy and paste the contents of that report into your next reply.

Please download DrWeb-CureIt & save it to your desktop. DO NOT perform a scan yet.

You should copy/print the following because you need to be in Safe Mode from here on.

Scan with DrWeb-CureIt as follows:
* Double-click on drweb-cureit.exe to start the program. An "Express Scan of your PC" notice will appear.
* Under "Start the Express Scan Now", Click "OK" to start. This is a short scan that will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the Yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it.
* Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
* Choose the "Scan tab" and UNcheck "Heuristic analysis"
* Back at the main window, click "Select drives" (a red dot will show which drives have been chosen)
* Then click the "Start/Stop Scanning" button (green arrow on the right) and the scan will start.
* When done, a message will be displayed at the bottom advising if any viruses were found.
* Click "Yes to all" if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
* When the scan has finished, look if you can see the icon next to the files found. If so, click it, then click the next icon right below and select "Move incurable".
(This will move it to the C:\Documents and Settings\userprofile\DoctorWeb\Quarantine folder if it can't be cured)
* Next, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list.
* Save the DrWeb.csv report to your desktop.
* Exit Dr.Web Cureit when done.
* Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
* After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web in your next reply. (You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report)

Also post a new Hijackthis log,let me know how your pc is running now.

*Note*
Post all reports/logs directly into this topic, not as attachments, thanks.

Hi Richie,
Please find the following information as requested:-
1) Super anti spyware scan log
2)Drweb log
3)Hijackthis log.

Things are not back to normal on my pc as yet. No control panel, when I try to access the Security Centre I get a popup message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". The internet is still unstable if I can get Internet Explorere to start up if I try to move pages it shuts down.

Also, I forgot to mention yesterday when I tried, unsuccessfully to download combofix Kaspersky came uo with the following message "Malicious HTTP object http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/...chme.cfexe>: detected new variant of virus 'Heur.Invader'."

Best regards

Hi Richie,
Things are not back to normal on my pc as yet. No control panel, when I try to access the Security Centre I get a popup message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". The internet is still unstable if I can get Internet Explorere to start up if I try to move pages it shuts down.

Also, I noticed on the HIjacktjis log that one of the line you asked me to remove is still there although I did select to have it fixed. Not sure if this means anything?
O8 - Extra context menu item: orange search - file://C:\Program Files\ORANGE3\Cache\SelectedContextSearch.htm

Download SDFix.exe and save it to your desktop:
http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe

* Double click on SDFix on your desktop, and install the fix to C:\

Please then reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following:

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
* Choose your usual account.

* In Safe Mode,go to and open the C:\SDFix folder, then double click on RunThis.bat to start the script.
* Type Y to begin the script.
* It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
* Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
* Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
* When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
* Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt into your next reply.

Please download and unzip Icesword to its own folder:
http://mail.ustc.edu.cn/~jfpan/download/IceSword122en.zip

1.Run IceSword by double clicking on the white icon with the sword, inside the IceSword folder you unzipped.
Click the "Processes" tab and watch for processes displayed in red text.
A red text colored process in this list indicates that it's hidden.
Note the filenames of processes in red text.
Also make a note of the folders.

2.Click the "Win32 Services" tab and look out for any red entries in the services list.
This red text colored service entry indicates that itís rooted.
Note the name of this service.

3.Now click the "SSDT" tab and check for red text colored entries.
If there are any, note the file and folder names.

Now post all of the data collected under the headings:
Processes
Win32 Services
SSDT

Please download Rootchk.exe and save to your desktop:
Important:- Temporarily disable any real-time monitoring programs (see note below).
Disconnect from the Internet.
Double-click on rootchk.exe to run the program.
A command prompt window will open as the scan begins and then close.
When the scan is completed, a logfile named rootlog.txt will open and be saved to the root directory usually C:\.
Copy and paste the contents of the log into your next reply.
Re-enable active protection on any program you temporarily disabled.

Note:
To avoid false positives,it is important that you temporarily disable ZoneAlarm Pro firewall,or any other security program that protects your registry (Spybot's Teatimer,Ad-Aware's Adwatch, Prevx, etc) before running the rootchk scan.
Click on this link to see a list of other programs that should be disabled.

Also post a new Hijackthis log.

Hi Richie,
Please find attached logs as requested. Control Panel now opens up, haven't removed or added anything to check any further. User Accounts tries to open then switches off. Internet still the same problem with Kaspersky advising there is hidden data sending attempting to perform suspicious action. If IE opens up then when I try to move pages it shuts down.
