so this is where i'm at now.
blue screen of death with above error code every time i scan my registry
my virus scan still says "scanning outgoing messages"
and my screen blacked up a few minutes ago altogether and my comp stopped responding.
i need some serious help,
i've gotten nothing today, and i have not left this comp for more then 30 minutes for the last 14 hours.
Are there any alternate solutions besides reformat, which i dont have no knowledge on how to perform.
thanx much appreciated...

These errors are nearly always hardware compatibility issues (which sometimes means a driver issue or a need for a BIOS upgrade).

Check your devices in Device Manager (Start > Run > type "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter). Look for any "! " or "X" symbols.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.

The STOP 0x8e error message can also be caused by malware - I'd suggest performing some free, online scans of your system (if you're able to)

Further information on the BSOD could be helpful in tracking the problem down. Here's a link to a post about finding info on them: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/top...tml#entry409491
