I've had some type of virus for the past week that I can't seem to shake. I use McAfee, I have also ran about 6 different spyware/virus removal softwares (ad-aware, spyot, windows defender, McAfee, etc...) They have each caught something and either deleted it or quaruanteed it. I have also ran about 6 different registry cleaners.

I am (was) getting pop-up spam windows when on internet explorer & some of the ads in internet explorer are being replaced with spam ads. The thing that I can't seem to shake is that my CPU is flatlinning at 100% usage, which is bogging down my computer.

Here's my HJT Log. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your response. The spyware/malware has been removed. Thank you for following up. I'm still experienncing one problem. My CPU is running at 100% continually. I have about 5 svchost.exe processes all located in c:/windows/system32 that are eating up the majority of my CPU. Any help would be appreciated or if you can direct me to a forum that can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Have a Great Day!
Will

If you have previously downloaded ComboFix,please delete that version now.
Warning
You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an expert, not for private use.
Using this tool incorrectly could render your system/pc inoperable.

Now download Combofix by sUBs and save to your desktop:
Note
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.
Note
In case your Antivirus or any other realtime scanner is displaying an alert after you downloaded Combofix or while you use Combofix, please disable your scanner and redownload Combofix again.
Some scanners may see some combofix related components as suspicious and block or delete them while there's nothing wrong with them.

Download\unzip Process Explorer to your desktop:
http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/ProcessExplorer.zip
Once installed launch the program.
Double click on the svchost.exe with the high cpu usage.
Click on the 'Threads' tab at the top.
Sort by the high CPU usage and you'll see which DLL file is using up all the processor cycles.
Post that information into your next reply please.

xgusb.cpl is related to YAMAHA USB MIDI Driver install, try reinstalling any MIDI devices/drivers.
Check in Control Panel/Device Manager, are there any yellow exclamation marks or red x's present relating to the above.

Please download OTMoveIt by OldTimer, save it to your desktop:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTMoveIt2.exe
Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose 'Copy'):

C:\Program Files\Free Offers from Freeze.com

Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
Click the red Moveit! button Posted Image
Copy everything on the 'Results' window to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose 'Copy'), and paste it into your next reply.
Close OTMoveIt.
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process.
If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Post a new Hijackthis log in your next reply.
Let me know how your pc is running now.

Thank you for your continued help.

The file xgusb.cpl that you said is related to YAMAHA USB MIDI Driver install makes sense. It was a piece of external hardware we used on our computer over one year ago. The program has since been uninstalled and we don't use it anymore. I'm assuming the driver was never removed in the unistall process. I could find no errors/yellow explanation marks/ or red x's in the control panel or device manager. Although in the control panel under classic view, there is an icon called MIDI-USB Driver. Right clicking on it only gives me two options 1. open, 2. create shortcut. When I click open a windows box opens saying" Yamaha USB-MIDI device is not connected. Can I just go into C:/system32/ and delete the xgusb.cpl file?

Here is the text from the OTMoveIt:
C:\Program Files\Free Offers from Freeze.com moved successfully.

Can I just go into C:/system32/ and delete the xgusb.cpl file?

Yes,try that, let me know what happens.

Your log is clean  ,please do the following:

Click on Start/Run,copy and paste ComboFix /u into the 'Open:' space, then press Ok.
This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

It wouldn't let me delete the file.

When I follow your instructions to unistall combofix it says it can not find combofix. I'm assuming it might have run it from the website instead of downloading it to my desktop.

Thanks for your effort. My CPU is still running at 100% do you recommend any other non malware forums to help resolve this issue?

Thanks,
Will
