It is impossible to shut off my HP Media Centre PC as XP refuses to be closed / ended.

When I want to close Windows XP (Start / Shut off) most of the time nothing happens, even when I try several times.

Sometimes a message rappears, stating that a certain program needs to be ended first.
(Sometimes this is "WMS ST Notif 0000CA8....)

I have to push the On/Off-button for ten seconds to shut off my PC.

I have checked my StartUp programs with MSCONFIG and with AutoRuns, and have not found any real problems or apparent dangerous programs.

My registry is cleaned and defragmented and by RegistryFirstAid and by RegistryBooster2.

And now I am at the end of my wits and would be grateful for any helpfull suggestion.

Welcome to BC
The entire error message might be helpful. Did you back up your registry before using any of these supposedly registry cleaners? Did they have a restore option?
