I've known this person from the old TechTV days. One heck of a modder and case builder. He put together a simple inexpensive benching station. I thought I'd show it off for him

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Nice!

I've found a use now for an oak coffee table with a raising top that I took out of a motor home a few years ago.
Since I have the "bench", I only have to do the mods for mounting.
Rather than just use it to sit laptops on.

Thanks for the link.
The only easy day was yesterday.

Gee,
all these years I have just been using the motherboard box with the foam on top and a large table, little tricky keeping the video card in the slot
you do need a small screwdriver(flathead) to short the power connectors to post
course that's what I get for buying a book when I got started

No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.

Rigging something up VS. Doing something properly is what separates the professionals from the hobbyist. We all have our own way.

That's what I normally do, but I do have all the extra parts. It would be nice to have a dedicated space for my obsession. Especially with young ones soon to be walking about
