Hi all,

I just reformatted and reinstalled xp on my com recently, and my com has become very laggy. Everytime i drag a window around it lags, when i scroll down a page it lags. I have tried to adjust my resolution to the lowest and other display properties to the lowest but still the problem remains. It seems that the problem lies deeper as it has only arised after i reformat and reinstall xp. Am i missing any drivers, if so how do i check for what i need?

Did you install video drivers? The behavior you describe usually indicates that drivers are missing.
Do you have onboard video or a video card? Is your computer custom built or off the shelf?
If you have a video card, you can install the drivers from the disk that came with it or go to the manufacturers website and search for the correct drivers. If it's an off the shelf, your restore disks (whether on a cd or listed as a drive, usually d) should have the drivers included.
Don't know what you have? Run Belarc Advisor-which will give you information about your computer, including the video set up. There are other programs which will also give you the info-others can let you know what they are.
If you need more help, please post information about your computer's video-someone can help you track down the correct drivers.

If it is a driver issue, try downloading Driver Detective, which costs about $29/yr I think. It checks your whole system for missing drivers, driver updates, etc., and downloads them for you. Huge database of drives, user friendly GUI, quick 'n Easy. I have it/ use it.

Not an endorsement, just practical experience, so do with it what you will. You could spend days (weeks?) trying to figure out what drivers you need.

Happy Holidays~

PS. Check to see if they offer a trial so you can test before you buy.
