Hi

I have tried this topic before and was unsuccesful with a resolution.

I have a dvd with lightscribe function that will not operate. I carried out an upgrade of my operating system from XP service pack 1 to 2 and my dvd drive would not read. I have since upgraded all my drivers and the dvd drive (LG GSA-4166B DVD/CD Rewriter with lightscribe) now works fine. The error occurs when I produce a cd label (using Nero labelwriter) I send it to lightscribe (which again I have the latest drivers) and I get a communications error states "a communication error has occured with the LightScribe drive".

My knowledge of pc workings is rather limited so please help someone.

Many thanks
Steve

I don't really care for Nero, so I can't help you there. But, have you gone out to lightscribe.com? I use their labeler, it's free. If all else fails you might be able to get it to label for you.

Thanks for reply

I have loaded the lightscribe software, it recognises the drive but when I go to print it shows an error "an internal Lightscribe System Software LSS error has occurred with the lightscribe service. Please restart your computer and try again".

I have done this and still get the error message.

You might have a corrupt download. Uninstall it and retry. If you still have Nero's app installed it might have a conflict with that

Go back to Lightscribe.com and download the latest update: LS_Update_1.18.10.2_.exe, that should resolve this issue. Sorry to revive this 2 year old thread but this work great for my 2 Hewlett-Packard Lightscribe drives.
