Hi -- I just signed on.

I found this site while looking for solutions to computer slow-down (hp pavilion w. windows xp). Among other things I ran combofix and it was somehow attached to bleepingcomputer (or the name, anyway). Looks interesting so here I am with no specific issue otherwise.

Is this community very active? I will watch it for a few weeks.

The slow-down issue with which I am dealing is vague. I have defraged and run many sweep and detection programs (norton, webroot, avg, cclean to name a few) but I am still dissatisfied. The main issue is a remarkable slow down in loading, connection time, and streaming/buffering (almost coming to a complete stop). If it weren't for the unmistakable and irrefutable deterioration in streaming, the loading and connecting might pass (almost) unnoticable. All of the detection programs keep reporting a clean bill of health.

Experience, familiarity, and suggestions are welcome !

Hi daleroes,

Just curious... you are using ComboFix with the advice of a Malware Removal Guide - or the help of a qualified malware tech? ComboFix is a very powerful tool.

Welcome to BleepingComputer daleroes! We have a great community here.

Wow, yes, that's active -- I've signed on to forums elsewhere that weren't and that's why I asked. I'm so encouraged I will add a personal icon.
I could tell that combofix was powerful and possibly out of my depth, but I ran it (I was reading somebody else's tutorial online -- perhaps a little reckless) and it seemed effective, though overall indicating that there wasn't much to fix -- I saved the log.

This looks like a place where I can learn a great deal. Thanks for feedback. I will check in often.
