Hi! Maybe someone here can help me. I am trying to set up servu ftp on my computer yet every time i try to start the server it tells me that the port or service is already in use.

I am not sure what that mean, but from what I read i think that means there may be another ftp server rnning on my machine? How can i find out if that is the case.

I am running windows xp pro.

You can download two programs that will show you what programs are running and what tcp ports they are using.

The first is fport and can be found at :

Fport

The second is TCPView and can be found at:

TCPView

You should search for the programs that are using TCP port 20 or 21.

Hope this helps.

Thanks grinler. Looks like I had the ftp service that comes built into windows already running. I think I am going to play around with that before I try getting serv-u running.

Thanks again.
