When I attempt to open an avi file with windows media 11 I get "Problem caused by OpenH323" from windows error reporting.

Do you have any type of VOIP? I couldn't find any references to that specific error-all I found was OpenH323 has something to do with VOIP (it's all to technical for me to understand). If that is indeed what is causing your issue, I can't help you solve it. All I can do is try to point you in a direction so you can find a solution.
