Is there any way I can print whilst in safe mode. At the moment both my printers have disappeared from the printer list and when I try to add a printer I am told the print Spooler is off

Welcome to BC
I doubt the printer driver loads in safemode See if they're in Add/Remove programs. If they are I would remove them then reinstall.

To turn the print spooler on:
1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Expand Services and Applications in the console tree, and then click Services.
3. In the details pane, scroll to Print Spooler and double-click. The Print Spooler Properties dialog box opens
Make sure the Startup type is set at Automatic and the service status is set at Started. Make changes if necessary.

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, because I'm in safe mode, I cannot start the print spooler, so cannot add printers
