Uninstalling Windows Media Player 11

Hey guys, I need help on this issue i'm having. When I try to open something such as an audio or a video file with Windows Media Player 11, it seems to not open. When i try to open WMP by itself, it still won't run. I was wondering if there was a way to fix this, or to uninstall it.
