I saved my Favorites from my old computer (XP) to a CD-R. I ran the CD-R onto my desktop of my new laptop with Vista. In my mind (which can be a scary place!) I should just be able to copy and paste that file into the favorites file on my new system. For some reason when I click to paste nothing happens.

Any ideas? I do not have the old computer. I have the favorites on my desktop or on CD-R. I am having some trouble in understanding how to find files etc. on Vista but I think I'm trying to put them in the correct file.

I'm really stuck on this. I would really appreciate any assistance!

Thank you!

HI John -

I've tried that - going to Add Favorites and then trying to select the Favorites folder on my desktop. The file is located at: C:\Users\Laurianne\Desktop\Bookmarks. When I try to input that I get an error response saying "Enter valid file name/file path" (or somthing similar to that). That is the correct filename/path. Any ideas?

This is just crazy

Thanks!

Is this a folder or a file on your desktop? A folder full of bookmarks won't import into IE - you must have a file named bookmark.htm in order to import it. A folder won't have the right information, so it won't be imported.

If this is the case, then you'll have to open up the folder (using Windows Explorer), select (highlight) everything in the folder, then select "Copy". Then go to the folder located at C:\Users\Laurianne\Favorites and "Paste" the contents into it.
