First post here & hello to all.

Since last weekend, have had a red dot in the taskbar. When the cursor is held over it, it says "your activity is recorded" and on clicking the dot, it prompts the entering of a password. I guess this is some sort of keylogger, and although I've had one on here before, it was a while ago and only a trial version, although I don't think I actually deleted it because the trial ran out before I had chance to. Yes, don't lecture me!!

Nothing seems to be different, and avg doesn't pick it up on a scan. I can't see anything in program files either that would link to this.

I'm running XP, with sp2 (I think) and I guess my next move would be to post HJT files on the other forum? Thought I would ask here first to see if anyone else had encountered this red dot.

Many thanks

Hi neths45 and welcome to BleepingComputer.

Is this a family computer that you are using?

There is a keylogger called pcpandora which has a similar red dot and will require a password to see what has been recorded.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Hello dc3

It's a laptop which my daughters use when they come round. The 13 yr old was using it when we noticed the red dot, but I doubt she would be savvy enough to have put the keylogger on. Unless she downloaded something to which it was attached?
