Is the young lady's disability one of motor control?

A quick search turned up dozens of sites that are concerned with providing disabled users the equipment they need.

My wife and I prefer to use an external mouse with our laptop - the touch pad is just too frustrating. Depending on the severity of the young lady's trouble, perhaps an external track ball could be used.

The best advice, though, is to ask the experts. Which I am not. Just throwing out a couple of suggestions. Try doing a search using keywords laptop and disability or disabilities. (Try both - they'll give somewhat different results.)
