Zone Alarm keeps telling me that iexplore.exe is tracking my keystrokes. The message is irritating as I keep being asked if I want to Allow or Deny access.

I have read that iexplore .exe is needed by Windows but that its validity depends on in which section of the registry it is found

I would appreciate it if you would check this for me, please, and any other problems that you might find.

I have followed all the "Read this Log first" instructions and this is the up-to-date Hijack Log programme.

I run Windows XP and have Zone Alarm, AVG Anti-Virus and SpyWare, Bit Defender, SpyBot Search and Destroy , AdAware SE Plus and SpyWare Terminator installed.

My thanks in anticipation.

No problem!! You all deserve a rest at Christmas, or should I say the Winter Holiday Season? :-)

I discovered I had two Trojans and, once these were dealt with, I uninstalled quite a few anti-spyware programmes as these were conflicting. I still have SpyBot and AVG Anti Spyware, Spyware Blaster, Super Anti Spyware Professional (forgot to mention this previously), and AVG Anti-Rootkit Free, plus CCleaner and ATF-Cleaner, also AVG Anti-Virus.

Thank you for catching up with my request for help.

I still keep getting the dialogue box telling me that iexplore.exe is tracking my keystrokes. The message is irritating as I keep being asked if I want to Allow or Deny access.

I have checked Zone Alarm Pro and it seems to be set up correctly.

Okay, that's not good. Lets check for any rootkits

Download rootchk by Ejvindh to your desktop.
  • Temporarily Disable Real Time Monitoring Programs you have running that are listed here, such as TeaTimer, Adwatch, and HIPs programs like Prevx, while we complete the fixes (see **Note below).
  • Disconnect from the internet
  • Double click rootchk.exe to run the program
  • After a short time a logfile will open.
  • Copy the contents of the log into your next reply.
  • Re-enable active protection on any program you have disabled while completing the scan
**Note:If you are using the ZoneAlarm Pro firewall or any other security program that protects your registry (Teatimer, Adwatch, Prevx), rootchk may produce false positives. That is why it is important for you to disable these programs before running a rootchk scan. To prevent ZoneAlarm Pro conflicts, first enable the Windows Firewall (click start | Control Panel | Windows Firewall and select the checkbox to turn it on). Then disable ZoneAlarm Pro before running the rootchk. Also, disable any other active protection programs including HIPs that block registry write access. After the scan, be sure re-enable ZoneAlarm Pro and any other active protection programs you have temporarily disabled.

Thank you. All done.

Whilst the rootcheck scan was going on AVG flashed up a warning that there was a Trojan in my Documents Setting. It identified it as Generic9ACFR and I clicked in the appropriate "Heal" box. Hopefully this will have fixed that particular problem.

Here is the scan which seems to state all is well. I do have AVG RootKit Free installed and thinking back the AVG warning me of the Trojan(s) disappeared before I could click in one of the boxes listed.

I found the file and deleted it!! I believe it could have been a "false positive" but I thought I would take the chance. The PC is definitely faster so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

If my HJT log is clear then I shall gp on keeping my fingers crossed.

My thanks.

All seems well, touch wood.

The dialogue box has disappeared and i have removed the somewhat-excessive antispyware/antivirus programme I had on my PC.

What upsets me most is that I regularly use my "anti" programmes and am careful where I surf. Yet I managed to acquire two Trojans!

Thank you for your advice regarding the HJT log.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL WHO READ THIS
