I am sorry this is an embarassing prob...but i really need help...i have a blog and my tagboard is currently being spammed by some guy by the name of Ben saying lots of weird stuff.

I tracked down his IP address and found out it was 131.227.231.158, which is located in Surrey UK.
Subsequently, he changed his IP address to the following: 216.40.255.90 , 208.53.138.228 , 216.40.255.90

How do I confirm its the same guy or may I ask if anyone knows where this addresses are located?

Can anyone pls help me on this matter?

about the only thing you can do is send an abuse report since most of rhtese guys are violating the TOS agreement

I have not had much luck with gmail, yahoo etc and shutting down known internet scams

smaller providers seem to pull accounts better

You can use this free search at Arin Whois for tracing IP numbers.

The one in Houston - Everyones Internet - essentially acts as a proxy. When I owned a forum, I was able to block ranges of IP numbers, but I don't know if you can do that with a blog. Also, once you start blocking all the IPs he uses, he'll just move on to another proxy, of which there are about a zillion. I timed out trying to get to the other one.

Unless you have an email address for this guy, yeah, you can't track him down. Even with a valid email addy, it's often difficult.

Do you have settings on your blog that allow you to preview posts before they're published?

i don't think i have settings that would allow me to do as such, cos honestly i m not good at such stuff.

But u mean if i were able to get his email add, would it help?

It could, but if he's smart enough to use proxies, he undoubtedly uses email addies from Yahoo, or other free providers. I wouldn't be too hopeful about that, if I were you. But, should you find out what his email is, post back here, and we'll help you determine whether it's good or not. Do NOT post the entire address, because that's a violation of the TOS - just post the part that comes after the @.
