I've used the search function in previous versions of windows a lot. It's one of my favorite tools.

Now. With Vista MS has turned it into an aggravating kludge. I'd like to meet this alien at MS who comes up with these "better" ways of doing things.

I wish there was a way of putting search back into classic mode.

Strange... I happen to think the revised search is one of the nicest/fastest features of the OS... If you know the name of the thing, type it and *boom* there it is...

I have to agree with Scotteg. The new search function is WORLDS better than the old one. With it, I don't have to install Google Desktop to index my hard drive for fast searches anymore, and the fact that if I want to use calculator or *shudders* internet explorer (for some godawful reason) I just hit my windows key, type calc, or iexplore, hit enter and BOOM, there it is. Saves time having to fish around in the menus and find it, or taking the extra time to hunt around for RUN, and when you're in a hurry, those couple seconds that it takes to find those two commands (and many many others) really adds up at the end of the week.

The Desktop search function was popularized by Google and Microsoft has incorporated it's version into Windows Vista. This is great for those who use it - unfortunately, I'm not one of those, so I don't really like it.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
