I'm looking to replace a MoBo and a CPU. What would happen if I got a set where the FSB doesn't match up? For example, the CPU is at 800 FSB and the Mobo is rated at 533/400.

Thanks!

The motherboard may underclock the CPU, and it may not work at all. What exactly are model numbers your purchasing?

that would depend if the mobo was really 800/1066

the whole thing is very confusing

the older motherboards were 400/533 and an 800 cpu would not work

also compare sockets very carefully

I think these will match up! Can someone please confirm.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819112213
MOBO:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186129

This will be for someone where the most they will do is check e-mail and use Word.

Thanks!

that will work but no upgrading to a faster cpu
