I am running XP, SP2 on a Dell computer new this summer. In both MS Word (2007) and in Thunderbird, I often get a pop up spell checker, in addition to the red underlining one would expect. Since it happens in both applications, I am assuming it is some program outside of them--an XP spell checker? A Dell spell checker?
It is insanely irritating. I will by typing, either into a Word document or composing an email in Thunderbird, and the pop up will appear. It will move the cursor to some other word in the text that it thinks is misspelled. When I cancel out of it, my cursor is still in the word it complained about, and I must move it back where I was typing. This is really irritating, I would love to have a clue how to get rid of it. As far as I know, it only appears when I'm typing, and never on the word I'm currently typing.
