I can do security scans in safe mode, but IE "cannot display this site". The diagnostic says an error has occurred.
Would appreciate your help.
Thank you.

i am not much more than a newbie, but i might be able to help you. safe mode has an option menu. i think you may want to choose "safe mode with networking". if you chose the first option "safe mode", the connection to the internet is disabled. some safe mode options direct you to "pages" that don't appear to have any way out. there is a flashing underscore like a command prompt, and you're supposed to type "quit", "stop" or "exit" (then hit enter) to leave. there is no red X in the upper right hand corner. i can't remember which word it is.

ejames has it right, safe mode with network support will allow you to go online.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Thank you very much; if I select safe mode with networking, everything is fine. Wonder why the techs at HP couldn't tell me that?
Thanks again,
jackiemarie

Thank you kindly. Selecting safe mode with networking - so simple.
