Does anyone know if a pentium 4 M processor would work in a Dimension 4600C?
It currently has a p4 2.8 ghz 1mb 533, I want to put on a p4 M 2.2 ghz 512 400.
The 4600c Has a lot of laptop hardwre in it including cdrw and pcmcia card reader in the front.

Power supply fried and took processor with it. Got new power supply and tested it with a processor from another tower and it works but alas i only have the pentium 4 M on hand. Just wondering if it would work or do i get to order a new processor to?

if it posts, set any specs in bios manually that you can after researching both the mobo and the cpu

if it will work(you have to test) it will probably show "unidentified cpu" during post

that OK if it posts????????

another plug and pray

I have unlocked(multiplier) mobile amd xp cpu I use on one asus mobo, some others keep kicking it out of the saved settings and don't work

the main thing to worry about is voltage!!!! Don't even try it if the specs don't match
