Computer Associates virus protection is catching and deleting the above files each time I boot up. These files were apparently downloaded after failing to turn the anti-virus program back on after doing some diagnostic work with help from tech support on a printer problem I was having.

I run Adaware, Spybot and Spyware Doctor and these programs remove files only to have them come back (Win32.trojandownloader.Zlob for one). I recently downloaded and installed Sygate Personal firewall and have blocked several attempts of of outerinfo (scprot4.exe - think I removed this file by running a hijackthis log and fix this file as outerinfo doesn't seem to try to access the remote host).

In addition to these reoccuring files, my problem is that I can't successfully run hijackthis and save the log. It gives me an error message:

"Hijackthis.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being generated"

On another forum (I think I'm infected forum..)the moderator told me to rename the file to lastchancescan.com and rerun, however this didn't work either. I can run the program but when I try to save the log it gives the error message again.

Please help me with other options.

Follow this fix:

How to Remove WinFixer / Virtumonde / Msevents / Trojan.vundo.

Then run full scans with Adaware, Spybot and your antivirus in Safe Mode (How to start Windows in Safe Mode).
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
