Okay so, my laptop is always being a pain in the ass but usually i can manage to fix it myself. But now I'm just going crazy. A few weeks ago this microsoft lifecam that ive been using to video chat with my boyfriend just stopped working. Then whenever Id plug it in to the usb port..the system would jsut turn off immediately...i dont understand why at all. It works fine in my boyfriends computer, and we just swtiched webcams and im using his wich also goes in the usb port and it works wonderfully but id like MY webcam back. Also, other weird things are going on, i can connect to the internet through mozilla firefox, and i can also establish a connection using a very old version of aim (5.something) but i cant get through on internet explorere, AIM 6.5 says there is no connection, as does limewire and ares. Please help me, this is all so frustrating..because i know there is an internet connection and it work for some things but not other..ughhhh!! thank you so much, and god less you i y ou figure this out haha.

Hi, Jacqueline Marie, welcome to BC!

Could you post your system specifications: Operating System, manufacturer, model number? Ditto for the camera.

The computer is a Windows XP, Gateway, Model is Gateway MP6954 Notebook. The Camera is a Microsoft Life Cam VX3000, thats the one that shuts the computer off recently, before it worked fine for about a year. The camera that curently does work on the computer is a logitech quickcam chat. Thank you!!
