Windows 98 Error 1723

There is an error on my PC when I Try to Install a HP Printer
Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact you support personnel or package vendor.
With OK button only and it stops the intstallation process
Please Help

There are two things that might be causing this:

First, the install might have been interrupted somehow, in which case you would need to uninstall it if possible and try installing again.

Second, it may be a problem with Windows Installer itself. Have you kept your computer updated? Windows Installer is something that is obtained from a service pack in 98 or ME.

Did I say two? Third, it may be that you need to get those fingerprints off the CD and try again.
