Hello. My brother's computer was full of infestations and so I just wiped the harddrive and reinstalled the os and updated everything. He has Verizon Internet Security Suite w/ firewall and I showed him how to use it, but after having it back one day...he has this toolbar on ie7 called security toolbar 7.1 and two icons on desktop: Online Security and Live Safety Center. He also gets the yellow triange with exclamation mark down in the sys tray saying he is infected and several popups. I did a search and found http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...st&p=670742 with no response yet, sounding similar to my situation. You try to get rid of and it just reinstalls. First time dealing with this...

Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello DuPont,

Please run the fix given here: How to remove the Smitfraud / Generic Zlob / Quicknavigate / Virtual Maid

After that run a full scan with SuperAntiSpyware in Safe Mode (How to start Windows in Safe Mode).

Let us know how it goes.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
