Modem issues

I just did a fresh install of Win2k Professional. Ever since my modem is acting up. Internet (dial-up) works fine but when off-line and receiving phone calls the modem will pick up and the only way to stop the screeching is to disconnect the line to the modem. It is the same modem and driver I used before the reformat. (Intel®536EP)

Any suggestions would be great. I bought the modem new just 8 months ago and the driver came with it.

If you installed RAS on the windows 2000 box it may be autoanswering due to its configuriation. See if these articles help:
