I'm not sure what kind of virus we have, but it adds programs and a lot of pop ups. I followed your directions on what to do before posting a HijackThis Log. The following are the programs I used: ad-aware, spybot, search and destroy, housecalls, panda, bit defender, and Mcafee stinger. It got rid of a lot of malware, trojans etc, and the computer is running much better. How do I know for sure if I got everything?? I noticed in my program files I still have atleast 1 program that doesn't belong. Do you know why my anti virus program wouoldn't have caught the initial virus??? Here is my hijackthis log. Thank you for your help.

Hello and welcome to BC.

Sorry for the delay in response. If you haven't received help elsewhere already and still require assistance please do the following and I'll be happy to help you.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt here.
  • Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simply
  • Click the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
  • copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:

    C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

  • Click Upload.
