I have never had a "problem" since I bought my first computer in the 80's.....

Anyway... I made a big mistake this week and purchased Norton 360 but that's another issue.

I downloaded an ad blocker and after clicking it, to run, nothing much happened other than I noticed that Norton started to have problems. It now appearsto not be running. I tried to uninstall it and it failed. It appears that ccapp.exe had disappeared. I ended up getting a friend to email a copy of it from his working system, after I could not download the Norton Removal Tool from their website (kept telling me the page was not up). After moving it to the proper Symantec directory I clicked on it and low and behold it got deleted dollowed by a pop up saying Windows cannot find the file (ccapp.exe).

I also noticed that Spybot Search and Destroy on my system has gotten trashed. AdAware cannot download updates which is also a first.

I tried Norton Uninstall Tool after the regular uninstall failed. The NUT does not see Norton 360 on my system. Nor can I reinstall Norton 360.

I used Zonealarm for my firewall before. I cannot download that either. I get an error. It seems anything to do with computer protection is being blocked from being downloaded. I cannot run a virus scan because I canot get any scaning software to work on my machine now.

To add insult to injusry, my wireless PCMCIA card (this is a laptop) also doesn't work anymore and I cannot fix it (software). I am at a loss to what I can do, short of reinstalling Windows XP and reinstalling tons of software I have and files. I do have virtually everything backed up on an external drive which has not been turned on for a few weeks so I assume it has not been "infected".

I really am at a loss concerning what the problem is.

here is the log

Ok. Forget it... I couldn't wait..... donloaded NoAdware 5.0, ran a scan... it found anumber of Trojans and viruses. Purchased the product and 1/3 later my computer was clean.

Still clean, 1 day later.

I hightly recommend the product. I ran a number of antivurus and scanning programs that found nothing. This software found them all.

I know I sound like a shill but I am very impressed.
