Here in America, the day after Thanksgiving is usually a holiday from work, and traditionally people and their families spend the day buying Christmas presents. For the retail industry, it has been the busiest sales day of the year, and given their profit margins during the rest of the year, it puts their total year profits in the 'black." Hence "black Friday."
Oddly enough, next Monday is the busiest day of the year for American on-line retailers.
Cheers,
John

If Monday is online retailers day, will Newegg have some good deals?
