Hello.

I have read your other posts regarding Cyberlog X and I have tried running Smithfraud, RogueRemover, & Super Anti-Spyware remover to get rid of the spyware I have.

It didn't completely remove all of the programs, so I tried following the instructions on the Start Here post and ran Ad-Aware; however, now I can't access the program and I can't follow any other links to download Spybot Search & Destroy nor any other links that are out there.

I have been fighting this problem for 4 days, can you please help me?

Thanks!

You might try to down load sysclean and the zipped deffinitions file from Trend micro extract the def file in to the same folder
as sysclean. Disable the system restore function in my computer properties, reboot and hold f8 down select safe mode with networking and run sysclean. Note you should put sysclean and the def file in a folder right off of c: like C:\sysclean.
Running in safe mode is 16 bit and a lot of the viruses today are 32 bit so they cant run and can not take control to stop you
from removing them. This may not work but it is worth a try.

Did you follow the generic instructions for using SmitfraudFix in BC's self-help tutorial "How to remove the Smitfraud/Generic Zlob"?
(scroll down to Removal Instructions; ignore the part showing symptoms in a HijackThis log as they may not apply in your case.)
If you have downloaded SmitfraudFix previously, please delete that version and download it again as the tool is frequently updated!

I have also seen this with some vundo infections so please follow the the instructions for using Vundofix in BC's self-help tutorial: "How To Remove Vundo/Winfixer Infection".

Thanks for your responses.

I followed the instructions from "How to Remove the Smitfraud & Generic Zlob" on Tuesday. Afterward, my computer appeared to be fine; however, 3 hours later I ended up having the same problems. So, I redid the instructions on "How to Remove the Smitfraud & Generic Zlob" twice again on Wednesday. The only problem now is when I try to run the Super Anti-Spyware program in safe mode, it times out after 3 hours and doesn't delete any of the spyware. It appears that the problems are getting worse.

My computer is not allowing me to follow any of your hyperlinks and it's only allowing one web browser window to be open at a time, so I wrote the web addresses down and will see if that helps.

I tried downloading Spybot Search and destroy from the website www.safer-networking.org and it when I click on the "Download Now" button, it doesn't download the program.

I then tried printing out the instructions to install and use Vundofix, my Print features do not work. I tried copying & pasting the instructions into Word: MS Word will not open. I tried opening WoirdPad: WordPad will not open.

I still can't follow any links and I still can't get more than one Internet Explorer browser window to open. FireFox will not open either.

I would like to send you a HiJack This Log; however, I can't get that program to open either.

What do I do?

Thanks again,

Gary

If HijackThis will not run, try renaming it.
  • Open My Computer or Windows Explorer and navigate to the HijackThis Folder.
  • Inside the folder, right-click on the HijackThis.exe file and rename it Scanner.exe.
  • Double-click on Scanner.exe (which is still HijackThis) run a scan, save the logfile and copy/paste it into your next reply.
If needed, change the .exe to something else such as .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr. Example: Scanner.bat or Scanner.com

When you have done that, post your log in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum, NOT here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts. A member of the Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. If you post your log back in this thread, the response from the HJT Team will be delayed because your post will have to be moved. This means it will fall in line behind any others posted that same day.

Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post your log along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. Please include the top portion of the HijackThis log that lists version information. An expert will analyze your log and reply with instructions advising you what to fix. After doing this, we would appreciate if you post a link to your log back here so we know that your getting help from the HJT Team.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your post or make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

If after 5 days you still have received no response, then post a link to your HJT log in the thread titled "Haven't Had A Reply In Five Days?".

Ok, thanks!

I have been able to download the programs, so I will continue to run all of those programs and then post a HijackThis log once they are all completed.

Thanks again for your help!

Thanks again for your help.

I have submitted a HJT log to the forums for additional assistance.

That link is provided below:

Great to hear that, Now that you have an open HJT log posted in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum, you shouldn't make any changes to your system.
Doing so, could change the results of the posted log, making it difficult to properly clean your system.

At this point, the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic until you are cleared by the HJT Team. If you still need assistance after your log has been reviewed and you have been cleared, please PM me or another moderator and we will re-open this topic.

Thanks for your cooperation and good luck with your log.
