The Problem:: If I click to save, we get the normal popup box, open, save, cancel. When you click save, IE/Firefox just closes, No error, nothing.

Previous History:: I did recently remove a large number of spyware/adware from this computer, (its not mine btw), and I had to do some registry editting, it did download before then, but the only things I changed in the registry, were the fact that a lot of the places it was trying to open from, was the K: (non-existant) drive. I changed those to c:/........ and thats fine.

Now I can't download. So can someone please help me?
thanks!

Anything. Any download. I think at the time I was trying to get Spybot and Ad-Aware Se. But ANY file attempt to download, crashes it. Doesn't matter which provider I'm downloading it from, or what I'm trying to download.

Are you sure that all traces of the infections were removed? Try these free, online scans to double check:
http://safety.live.com (requires IE)
http://housecall.trendmicro.com

If both scans come up clean, then I'd suggest trying a repair install of Windows - it's the quickest and easiest way to repair errors on your system (and it's a bit more thorough than SFC.EXE). Unfortunately, that'll mean waiting through a bunch of Windows Updates (92 or more if you have SP2 on your installation CD). Here's a link on how to do it: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

(23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.
